The Logistics Supervisor will plan, organize, and monitor MWI’s internal and contracted delivery system network, be responsible for assessing and developing profitable and efficient delivery options for current and future customers, and analyze and develop alternative distribution options targeting additional service areas. Daily supervision of Logistics Coordinators.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain all operations’ order accuracy reports.
Provide logistics support to Inside and Outside Sales Representatives.
Ensure timely distribution of customer orders. (i.e. next day service).
Monitor transportation expenses; authorize payment of freight bills.
Generate and distribute carrier inbound, outbound and exception reports.
Maintain up-to-date documentation of all delivery logistics options.
Ensure that an open line of communication exists between operations and sales staff for manner of transport, cut-off times, and service areas.
Communicate with sales staff and operations procedural changes and training.
Be liaison between operations and accounting for new account set-ups.
Maintain delivery routes in AS400.
Determine the best carrier selection for customers and circumstances.
Work with accounting to maintain best freight strategy for each customer.
Work with Operations Management to support standardization of policies and procedures.
Prepare monthly reports analyzing freight costs.
Update monthly fuel surcharge agreements.
Assist in hiring, supervising and train logistics staff in accordance with MWI’s core values.
Oversee new account set ups Qualifications: Typically, a Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or related field is preferred. Two or more years of transportation, distribution, or logistics experience is needed, with preference given to animal or human health distribution experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Candidate must have strong attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 1-2 years of Supervisory experience is preferred.
