Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain to join the dynamic and highly collaborative sales team at our Algonquin, Illinois facility. The Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain (VP Ops/SC) provides leadership, management, and vision to ensure that the company effectively and efficiently delivers exceptional operational and supply chain outcomes in service of customer demand and aggressive growth objectives. This will include driving performance across all company facilities (current and to-be-acquired) across all operational and supply chain disciplines (i.e. manufacturing, distribution, manufacturing engineering, materials management, purchasing, planning, maintenance, etc.) utilizing a variety of operational strategies. In addition, the VP Ops/SC will play a critical role in both acquisition and international supply chain expansion activities. The VP Ops/SC will cultivate and leverage multiple cross- functional business relationships to identify and execute creative solutions to organizational opportunities and challenges. As a member of the company’s Executive Team, the VP Ops/SC will partner in setting the company’s strategic goals and ensuring our operating efforts are aligned to support those objectives.


Provide overall leadership to the operations function, with responsibility for: strategy development and implementation; operating plans and budgets; value generation initiatives; policies, procedures, and leveraging technology; staff assessment and development; performance measurement and governance; and, communications with business units and senior management.

Develop a robust S&OP process that integrates demand, supply, and inventory planning capabilities. Coordinate with all functional leads to develop and align on “the plan”, including developing build-up and drill-down capabilities by product family.

Incorporate flexibility and visibility of growth surges, particularly from acquisition. Set a supply strategy that is aligned with the business and translate that into executional actions.

Develop inventory targets and monitor supply / replenishment to achieve targeted inventory levels on both a cost and unit basis.

Manage and control inventory, obsolescence, and working capital. Incorporate inventory positions into the overall S&OP process and help facilitate supply decisions.

Anticipate inventory ramps as they relate to new product introductions, footprint decisions, and long-term capacity requirements.

Partner with functional leads across the business to plan for current and future demand and technology shifts.

Develop and implement plans to optimize supply chain footprint to address cost and service targets. Develop and execute integration plans for all operations functions of acquired companies.

Establish professional procurement processes, including purchasing and transactional operations.

Build out low cost country sourcing capabilities. Optimize global sourcing strategy with manufacturing locations.


10 years of progressive operations and supply chain leadership experience across multiple disciplines (i.e. manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, etc.), required

Bachelor’s degree required, preference for Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain degree; Master’s degree a plus.

Experience leading multi-site manufacturing operations, including production, engineering, maintenance, and EHS. Experience partnering with contract manufacturing highly desired.

Experience in acquisition diligence and integration required; previous experience in growth oriented, private-equity owned business strongly preferred.

Expert understanding of materials management, warehousing, and inventory control policies, processes, procedures, and systems.

Expert understanding of demand planning, supply planning, and cross-functional S&OP processes and related systems.

Expert understanding of supply chain KPIs (e.g. forecast accuracy, fill rates, on-time delivery, schedule attainment, etc.).

Experience with network optimization, quantifiable results in identifying supply chain improvements through scenario analysis, logistics spend, and footprint decisions.

Expert understanding of purchasing operations and related policies, processes, procedures, and systems. Experience with low cost country sourcing a plus.

Experience using continuous improvement and Lean principles to lead operational transformation (i.e. merger integration, footprint optimization, cost-out, on-time delivery, safety, quality, etc.).

Strong problem solving and analytical skills in support of metrics-, data- and process-oriented objectives; ability to succinctly report on critical operations measures to key internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of cGMPs and regulatory requirements for an FDA- regulated manufacturer and distributor, a plus.

Excellent financial, quantitative, and analytical skills; experience with business and supplier performance reporting.

Demonstrated success as a people leader, including the ability to: set and gain buy-in for strategic direction and vision; attract, hire, retain, and develop key/critical operations leaders; and establish an engaging culture of accountability, quality, and customer focus.

Experience influencing staff in remote and dispersed operations; works easily in multi-regional and global project settings; able to facilitate teamwork across a geographically dispersed business environment.

Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.

A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; easily accepts constructive input from others.

A clear ‘bias for action’ and sense of urgency to operate within a fast-paced and entrepreneurially minded organization.

A willingness and ability to display a ‘roll up the sleeves’ approach, engaging in driving tactical execution when necessary.

Able to travel up to 40%, including internationally.
